I like the one on the right better. It feels more eerie.

I like the one on the right. The one with the girls. Maybe it's because I only raised sons, but girls say "Innocents" to me more than boys do.

I like the left one better. The shadows of the kids scream "innocents" to me

Righthand side one I believe is a bit better. More mystery and eye-catching.

The one on the right for sure. :)

the one on the right is awesome....with the blood and kids holding hands kinda creepy

I like the one in the left.

I'm not a fan of that much blood on the cover, but the right one is more catching.

I do think that little boy silhouette would be even more impactful if you used him instead of the smaller girl in the right one too. Something about those little ears poking out says sweet and innocent to me.

Bottom line...right.

I vote for the left, it rules the entire page :-)

I voye for the blood splatter version.

I like the one on the right side, more descriptive & mysterious. Kim McNiel Smith

The one on the right. Starts with the title. Any writing place above the title draws the eye away from the cover's most important information.

The right-hand one. Although I do like both but the blood spatter effect conveys the mood best IMO.

I also like the blood spatter effect with the one on the right. Cause you can never have enough blood spatter!

Having designed my book covers I understand the thought that goes into the cover. I like the one on the right for the blood splatter but I like the placement of the text on the left. If I really had to choose only one, I'd say the right. Nice design.

The one on the right is more eye-catching but both covers are great!

I like the one to the right. Cruelty is messy and the red is messy. They just seem to go together.

I am casting my vote for the one on the right. Not only does it 'pop' the title more but, it seems to have an aura of it's own that reeks of an eerie unknown. (In a very good way, of course.)It catches the eye much more than the one on the left.

Both covers are very good; the shadows of the children, which always screams 'innocents' when seen, are a very nice touch! I like how the girls are holding hands. The one on the left really doesn't 'speak' to me. The blood spatter effect is yelling "Hey! Check me out!" -- Also, the layout of the title and the information that it is the first in a series appeals to me more than the other.

When I am browsing the shelves of a bookstore, or online, the cover is always the first thing that catches my eye. Then I read the synopsis. I have acquired several new books this way of authors I would have never read. Some have turned to be 'meh', others have made me life-long followers of their writing. The blood spatter cover is eye-candy for me, and the typical browser.

So this lengthy vote is for the one on top, or the right, whichever way you prefer to look at it.

Good luck ladies! I look forward to learning which cover was picked and reading this enticing thriller!

Thanks so much everyone...this is really fantastic feedback! As always, you guys rock!!!

The bottom one, and/or second one. Kid shadows add eeriness and drive title home. Like the 911 series at the top too. Blood seemed over the top with the font used.

I like the top one better--the swirl on the bottom one looks too fancy, too elegant.

Deborah said...

Yes, the one on the top (right). They are very similar, so it shows how subtle the pull is more to one than the other. Good luck with it!

I like the top one best--the broken trail of red is positively eerie. Can't wait to learn more about your work!

Seems like an interesting book.

The one to the right. I like the broken red and shadows better.

I think that the one with the girls is the best one. Please go for that. Anything that involves girls are scarier and, yes, even in today's modern world Girls show innocence and boys not quite so much!

CK Webb said...

We are leaning towards the girls a bit...thanks so much for your thoughts!!!
To everyone who has dropped by either to see the covers, leave a comment or both...THANK YOU!!! We came this far with you guys and we will go the rest of the distance with you. We appreciate each & every one of you!!!
