John Drake has it all, a loving family, a nice home and a job as a police officer that he loves until, his world comes crashing down around him. While working with a fellow officer on an off duty security job, a deadly shooting spirals out of control, leaving two dead, including fellow officer Frank Glass. Nothing adds up about the shooting, but all clues point to John Drake as the shooter. Stripped of his badge and branded a ‘cop killer’, John is faced with the difficult task of trying to find out the truth behind the shootings, clearing his name and staying alive in the process… a task that is easier said than done.

A Time to Lie is D.W. Hardin’s second novel and I have read them both. This book had a much different feel from his first book, as it is written in first person from Officer John Drake’s point of view. Hardin does a fantastic job of bringing the real, heartfelt emotions to life and his characters jump from the pages because of it. As a reader, I felt all of the main character’s turmoil and pain and I was rooting for him every step of the way. For those of us not in the law enforcement field, A Time to Lie shines a bright light on every aspect of the profession and those who choose it. There is a little something for everyone; action, conspiracy, corruption and even honor. Hardin has a style of writing that feels so natural and real, I found myself saying… “This could really happen!”

A 5-spider novel from an outstanding writer… it doesn’t get much better than A Time to Lie.

Debney’s life up to this point has been uniquely sad. Raised by a mother who showed no affection and a father who couldn’t seem to relate, Debney could have been a problem child, but managed to do things right and becomes valedictorian of her class. Then, on the night of her eighteenth birthday, while having a party at her home, Debney finds out that her entire family has died in a car accident. Although the details are sketchy, Debney’s grief leads her to a wrong decision, which leaves her, not only alone in the world, but pregnant as well.

What Debney does next, and how she handles her life from this point is what Ey Wade’s novel is truly about. The situations and emotional responses are heart-warming and the story is sweet and well-written. D.N.A. is a truly poignant story that will have you shedding a tear and cheering for joy.

eye of the god (and the author uses lower case for the title) is built around a plot to steal the famous Hope Diamond from its home at Washington’s Smithsonian Institution. Abby Mitchell, responsible for a gala event centered around the diamond, is the central figure in a mystery that starts slowly and builds to a thundering crescendo.

As the author weaves the tale, she provides a great deal of history concerning the diamond and the alleged curse that travels with it, taking the reader back to its earliest known appearance in India. Among those who suffered while owning the diamond were Marie Antoinette and Washington socialite Evalyn Walsh McLean.

I feel that the author did a fine job in building the intrigue necessary to enthrall the reader and I give the eye of the god 4 1/2 Spiders.

The year is 9 AD and Quintus Druronius, a young tribune, has managed to survive an attack that led to a massacre of his people. He soon learns that secret information which he had acquired from his past, that he thought was fictitious tales told by a family member, was in fact real, and may have led to the mass slaughter because he was in possession of it.

Jumping ahead to the last years of World War Two, fighter pilot Rolf Patzer and an SS officer embark on a mysterious mission involving the moving of a number of small crates out of Germany before the arrival of the Allied Powers.

Meanwhile, in present modern times, Jos F'al, a former intelligence officer, learns that Emily, his fiancée, has been abducted while on an archeological dig which ended in the murder of several of her colleagues. While Jos begins his search for Emily, he stumbles upon an artifact that reveals that human history is much older than anyone ever suspected. In fact, the device pre-dates human civilization and he learns that the end of history, as we know it, is at hand.

Prometheus Bound hopscotches us through three historical eras and proceeds to delve into the lives and adventures of three interesting characters who are each enriched by their perspective time periods. A. G. Claymore makes the story a bit difficult and confusing to follow in the beginning as I was left wondering if the three historically separated story lines were ever going to intersect. But through the use of a time travel plot he cleverly pulls the story together and it doesn't take long before it all begins to make sense.

The ending satisfies and promises more adventures in the upcoming sequel.

At age 48, Martin just found that his mom, presently in a nursing home with Alzheimer's, is the famous vigilante/superhero, the Black Stiletto. Her real name is Judy Cooper, and during the 1950’s, she became a masked avenger who thwarted evil-doers until she disappeared from site. A lawyer friend gives Martin a key to a room at the house where he grew up, and what he finds are the secrets his mother left for him along with a diary that tells her story.

This was a good book and made me wish I was as strong as Judy was. The diary was written by her and told of her life and exploits as a superhero and crime fighter. She went thru some hard times, but overcame them and became stronger, realizing she had powers and abilities that helped her in her secret life. I was enthralled with the story as Judy’s superhuman abilities helped her do amazing things. Told from three points of view, the book kept my attention and was well worth the read.

I’m giving The Black Stiletto, 4 spiders and recommending it to anyone who has a love for action heroes and adventure stories.

Walking into a restaurant parking lot to get his car and having two thugs jump him and cut off his ring finger is not Jake Reese’s idea of a good night. Having his quiet life escalate out of control and his wife disappear is not his idea of fun either…but then, what could a former bad guy expect to come from his not-so-distant past. What do these people want from him and why are they doing this? Questions Jake needs to find the answers to and he’ll do whatever it takes to find them. Jake Reese’s life will never be the same and the reader will get a suspenseful look at how things are done on the wrong side of the law. This novel will leave you breathless and have you speed-reading to the twisting end. Another great read from John Rector, who really knows how to pour on the intensity and leave his readers with a smile on their faces.

Rector has written a fast-moving, thriller that will take you on a trip through the life of a man who, in his youth, became a mob associate, inflicting pain and suffering, only to give it all up for a quiet life. Now his past has come back to haunt him and he’s paying a big price.

The cover of this book was enough to piqued my interests, but when I read the titles of the shorts, I was taken completely with the original concept of this literary work. The Whisper Jar opens with a poem so wonderfully written and paced that you cannot ignore the depth and strength of Ms. Lanham’s writing ability. Dare I say one of the best pieces of dark poetry I have read in quite a long while? YES… I do say!!

With a running theme that centers on secrets, each story ties itself to the theme in a most unique way. The first tale, fittingly titled The Whisper Jar, tells of people capturing their secrets in glass jars and hiding them away from the ears of others. Things do not always work the way we plan however, as her characters soon discover.

I’m giving The Whisper Jar a 5 spider rating and recommending it to anyone who likes this genre.

Noah Morgan is an ex-con who acquires work as a unlicensed private investigator for a San Francisco insurance company. He is hired to search for a priceless ancient violin but there are others who are searching for him- believing that he possesses a trove of jewels, which includes an extremely valuable 40 carat green diamond. A group of unsavory urban characters are on the hunt for Noah and the precious jewels but Noah soon realizes that he has more to worry about. A strange aged gypsy woman ushers in a spirit world populated by demons, vampires and a romantically affectionate faerie who are also interested in what Noah might possess. In his quest to find the violin he encounters situations and entities that threaten his life- but he also learns that he also has powers that he will need to develop to keep himself alive.

Author John Miller creates this urban fantasy tale and manages to pull us into a story line which is both complicated and absorbing at the same time. It took a while for me to finally get a sense of where the story wanted to go but eventually I found the characters interesting enough that they actually helped to pull the story together. The author added a bit of a surprise near the end that was both interesting and thought provoking- an intelligent insight into how we see others in our community; especially the poor and the downtrodden.

This is a worthwhile read if you're looking for an escape into a world which melds fantasy together with real life. It's an adventure quest for material treasures as well as the riches that we can find within ourselves.

Meanwhile, back in the US, there is a serial killer racking up victims. This killer is traveling all over the US, and the authorities can’t seem to get a fix on an identity. It will take the skill of Landon and his team to track this killer and bring him to justice. In the process, however, Landon will learn more about the new werewolves, and about himself. The secrets he finds will change his life forever.

This book was a very fast read for me. The storyline was never boring. This book was exactly what I like in a supernatural story. It had vampires and werewolves, a little love, a lot of action, and some twists to surprise the reader. I would love to read more about Landon, LillyAnna and Jamie. This was very entertaining, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good supernatural story.

Twist and turns, mutilated bodies and bazar occurrences punctuate this novel by Eileen Carr and propel her into a top spot as an up-and-comer on the ‘Masters of the Thriller’ list. The characters are true-to-life, the attractions are right on target and the suspense is gripping in this great keep-you-up-all-night read. Murder, love, trust and betrayal…what else could you ask from a suspense novel?

It is a place she always loved until her mother died and a place she has not been to since. Kim balks at the idea of spending time in Cedar Key even though it was where she was happiest and where she found her first love. She will soon find that life is always changing and that second chances really can happen for the best.

Chasing Sunsets is not only a life story, but also a fabulous love story. It is told in first-person so the reader gets a great feel for exactly how Kim is processing everything that is happening in her life. The characters are well done and make the reader feel as if they could easily be someone they knew in their own life. The story is sweet and the reader will cheer for Kim as she moves to change the parts of her life that can never work and become the person she always thought she was—all while coming to grips with the reality of her mother’s life and death.

Ms. Everson has written a great story that will take you back to your youth and make you wish for second chances—Chasing Sunsets is a fabulous read and will truly touch your heart.

Throughout various stages of his life, Michael is haunted by his father. Michael watched his father die on the fishing boat. Since that day, Michael had to be the male figure for the Fischer home. He had to take on the role of the protector. Follow Michael as he grows into a man, gaining a family of his own, and learning who he is. Michael sees his father, and feels his presence, at various stages of his life. Is this to guide him or haunt him? Is Michael living the life he is supposed to live?

Blood & Water is an interesting story of the life of this man. This book tells how a boy, and later the man he becomes, is haunted by his father. In his dreams, and seemingly in his waking life, his father returns to send messages. Some of his messages are reminders, and some are just scary.

This was a simple read and an interesting story and I’m giving it a 3 spider rating.

Tucker Lee Anderson is a reporter who is sent on his first crime case by his boss and he wants Anderson to check out a story over on the beach side. Anderson is normally a sports writer but as a favor to his boss and his co-worker who is sick, he agrees to check it out. The case turns out to be a follow-up to another case in which a serial killer murdered several children and this body might be the last of his kills.

But as Anderson investigates, the evidence leads him to do some ancestral research, and he soon discovers family ties that bind him. What he uncovers will shake up the area residents and connect him to the past and the present.

This novel was a great read—filled with mystery, humor, and suspense—it will keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what could happen next. An intriguing and suspenseful debut novel from Mr. Ramsey.

Thomas Walken, an agent of the Industrial Security Bureau, is not happy with the deterioration of humanity and subsequently he is tasked with infiltrating the black market malevolent nation of Wonderland, which is in the process of smuggling sex dolls into the country. Walkens job is to intercept a shipment of these dolls and to uncover the truth behind the dark and mysterious world of Wonderland. In his quest to rid society of this new shadowy and disturbing technology, Walkens discovers a frightening reality that will shock both himself and the rest of the world.

Michael Shean spins a futuristic tale of high tech cyber punk that vibrates with action and takes you for a ride through a shimmering sprawling neon skyline of a city eclipsed by moral decay and abandonment. In this, the author’s debut novel, Mr. Shean’s dedication to his craft shows up in Shadow of A Dead Star- which is chuck full of expertly detailed descriptions of a futuristic world. In this lies one of the only flaws in this story. In his effort to make his world believable, the author pours a little too much detail into the earlier part of the story line and takes away from the personality make up of the main characters.

Other than this- the story rolls along nicely with a surprise twisting punch at the end. I rate Shadow Of A Dead Star with 4 spiders.

Vivid descriptions, emotionally charged scenes, and an outcome that will have you scurrying to pick up the next book in the series, Nightshade is a must-read. As sexy and thrilling as they come.

This is a story of a young woman being swept off her feet by the man of her dreams, only to find that the life of luxury he provides is one full of stress, abuse, neglect, and lies. This auto-biography takes you through the years of Sarah’s marriage to this charismatic man, to include the births of their three children. You become emotionally invested in this story as you read further and further into the story of her life.

This story makes me think of my first marriage. It makes me think if I hadn’t gotten out as quickly as I did, how my life might have turned out so much differently. You begin to see inside the relationship, instead of seeing it from the outside-in. You begin to see the suffering one goes through privately, while trying to hold things together publicly.

This book is a very good read. In fact, I managed to read the entire book in only a couple of hours. I am really glad that Sarah found her way out of the situation she found herself in. I am also sad that other women had been and would continue to fall victim to such a man. Mental illnesses so often go undiagnosed and untreated in so many lives. This book serves to shed light on a personality disorder that will destroy the lives of people all around the individual it affects, while the actual individual continues to blame his or her misfortunes on someone else. I applaud you, Sarah, for sharing your story with the world through your book.

Donovan Vicar is a "feeler"-a man who feels the vibrations of people around him. After bumping into a stranger on a late October evening in 2007, he is overwhelmed with an evil that seems to radiate from the man. He is so caught up with the power and imminent danger of the guy that he boards a bus to Texas in hopes that he might be able to stop whatever horrible act he may be planning. But the bus he is on takes an unexpected turn and instead of going to Texas, Donovan ends right back where he started in his hometown of Bitternest, Louisiana but the year is 1957 and his city is in the grips of dealing with the disappearances of several young women. 50 years in the past, Donovan is forced to take on the dark mystery- or lose the chance of ever going back to 2007.

It's a time travel story that quakes with the weirdness and fun of The Twilight Zone and culminates in a fierce battle between good and evil which threatens to fracture the very essence of time.

The story's premise is a fairly good one but this reader suffered through the use of analogies that were as out of place and clichéd as a "giddy sailor in a strip club" One of the analogies that was used.

The author also had a tendency to be lazy with some of his descriptions such as this one: "A sudden bolt of lightning lit the whole property, just like the ones in those classic horror movies."

If the author would have taken more time in using his own healthy imagination in creating appropriate analogies and if he moved his mind to engage in more inventive descriptions- his spider quantity would have increased.

The last 8 chapters of the story were exciting, satisfactorily written, with an interesting ending, and they saved this book from a 2 spider rating. I give it a 3 out of 5 spider rating.

1. What do you find is the most difficult part of the writing/editing/promoting of your books?

Promoting books is by far the most difficult aspect of being a writer, not because I’m bad at it (I’m actually pretty good at it) but because I just loath it. A lot of marketing is non-creative and monotonous and it just drains me. Honestly, anything that is not creative (writing, designing a cover, even editing) makes me feel like jumping off a bridge. But there is always a new novel to write, so I power through my marketing chores, confident that I will soon be back to telling stories.

2. What's the best writing advice you've ever received? You've ever given?

I once heard James Rollins, who I believe was quoting someone else, say to ignore the advice most authors give, “Write what you know,” and instead, “Write what you love.” I didn’t necessarily need this advice because I was already following it, but it made me feel better. You see, I’m not an expert in anything worth writing a thriller about. I’m an artist and a writer and that’s all I’ve ever been. I can’t base stories on my past as a lawyer, a marine, a doctor or an explorer. Writing what I know would make for a crappy thriller. Hearing Rollins say that writing what you love is actually more important made me feel better about not having had an interesting career before becoming a writer. And for people interested in becoming writers, it’s amazing, freeing advice.

3. In your opinion, do you think people will read less with fewer bookstores around or is reading coming back because of the convenience of on-line buying and what is your opinion of the surge in e-book sales?

I think more people will start picking up books, regardless of the bookstore situation, as long as the quality is there. I haven’t had cable TV for seven years. My father-in-law moved in a year ago and I recently got cable for him. When I turned it on and flipped through the channels I was shocked by the massive—absolutely massive—amount of crap on TV. 95% of what I saw should be burned onto CDs, put on a rocket and be shot into the sun. I have cable now, but I still don’t watch it. As people get sick of crap TV (and I really hope they do or my faith in humanity may falter) they might turn back to novels. But, the quality needs to be high if it’s going to compete. As e-books dominate the market, I think book sales will actually go up. There’s already a large “stay at home” culture, and before now, novels weren’t easy to get. Now it just takes a few clicks. So my outlook on the size of the book buying audience is positive. My outlook for bookstores, sadly, is not.

This is a story of science vs. religion. What is the church willing to do to stop the advance of science? Will the cloning even succeed? The Second Virgin Birth is chock full of action and wonder, and it will make you question what you actually believe about cloning and organized religion. This story will have you on the edge of your seat, unable to put it down. You want to know what is going to happen next. The story is full of murder, intrigue and even miracles. I loved this book and will recommend it for anyone who enjoys an action packed story. Whether you are a believer of the Christian religion or not, you will want to read The Second Virgin Birth.

She is rescued by Vincent and awakens with no memory, to his six-year-old daughter, Jadie, telling her that ‘Amber said you’d come.’ Jadie has cystic fibrosis and hasn't spoken since her sister, Amber died and her mother disappeared. ‘Kate’ as they begin to call her, is confused and has a strange attraction to Vincent. Then Adam, a neighbor farmer, shows up with Kate’s cat and Kate meets Colin who is the brother of Jadie’s caretaker. Colin is a hypnotherapist and offers to help Kate regain her memories, but should she trust him? Some strange facts begin to surface and things begin to happen.

This novel was easy to read and I really loved it. The theme to the story was ‘What if a secret in your past is the key to healing a broken family's heart?’ I wondered what this meant myself and as I read more I learned. I was drawn into the book and couldn't put it down. I found myself sad and happy for Kate as she learned more and more about herself. Ms. Rose had written a wonderful story that will make you smile.

I give Finding Home a 5 spider rating and encourage all readers of any age to pick up this book and try it.

She is a typical teenager with typical teenager issues, except for one. Maya can see, feel, and communicate with ghosts. However, the only one she has ever encountered to date is her Grandmother. No one knows that she has this ability, except for her Grandmother, who visits her regularly and shared her ability when she was alive.

Then, a new display at the local museum is causing quite a stir and the whole town is talking about the opening of the exhibit. Maya is less than enthused about being forced to go to it during a class field trip, but while she is there, she meets an interesting boy who stirs the butterflies in her stomach. A new kid in town, Blake has captured her interest. Soon after she meets Gavin, who equally attracts her.

The odd happenings at the museum and the appearance of two new boys in town have Maya on edge. The two boys couldn’t be more different from each other, but they both have her fumbling over her words and willing to go farther than she would normally allow.

Enjoy this YA story as you go through natural and supernatural struggles with this teenage girl. This book is full of adventure and supernatural happenings and is very entertaining. It is a fast read, and excellent for a teen who is into the paranormal, and even teens who aren’t. This story is the start of many for Maya Blair and it will leave you wanting to see what will happen next. The action and adventure will have you sitting on the edge of your seat, flipping pages faster and faster. This is a great read, and I definitely recommend it.

R. E. McDermott has kept himself busy in the marine industry for thirty years. His time has been spent as a ship’s officer, a consultant and he’s also been involved with the management end of the industry which includes ship building projects in the U. S. and the Far East. And, he’s still at it! Currently his time is spent in both the United States and Singapore, where he is a consultant and advisor in ship construction, operations and engineering.

It’s no wonder why Mr. McDermott’s writing skills have lain dormant during his very active and busy life but now we can christen this new author and his first novel. He is certainly sea worthy and DEADLY STRAITS is especially worthy of floating to the top of many online book reviews.

DEADLY STRAITS is an action packed, suspenseful thrill ride that will broaden your knowledge of the shipping industry and it will eerily remind you that the next terror attack could very well come to a port near you. This debut novel is at times politically and technologically involved which can add up to a very complicated plot but it’s one book which is well worth the time to read.

I say: Aye Aye, Mr. McDermott- full speed ahead! We’ll be waiting patiently for your next novel to sail into our hands.

In 1640, in a small Hungarian village, priest Mark Corescu is transformed into a vampire. Four centuries later, Dr. Mark Corescu believes he is serving God as he judges evil doers or those that have sinned by taking their lives in a ritual he calls the Judging.

Until he meets young widower, Hope Brannen, who he believes God has sent to be his love. Hope immediately falls for him, but she knows he is not an agent of God and enlists the help of Anthony Agricola, who is attending seminary. Tony helps Mark remember his past and he begins question truth, and all that he has done in the name of faith.

I didn't think this book would be something that I’d be interested in, but I kept reading and I’m glad I did. I really liked the idea that Mark was a doctor by day and a vampire by night, killing evil in God’s name. This story contained biblical quotes at the beginning of each chapter and had a spiritual based that made you think. Ms. Maze took an age-old theme and turned it into a solid, exciting story that will interest any reader of the genre. Great story with great characters and a great premise.

This is a book for anyone and I give it a 5 spider rating.

A Couple's Tale of Going Indie by Collin Moshman & Katie Dozier, authors of 'The Superuser'

We used to think of self-publishing as a method of last resort. After Collin released three non-fiction books with a conventional publisher, however, we made the decision to self-publish our fourth. EBooks and eReaders are no longer the future; they’re the present. Just ask Borders.
The biggest functions of a conventional publisher are getting your books in stores, and promoting you. Since anyone can now put up a book on the Kindle store, an author willing to invest time in marketing has a very viable option in self-publishing.
Here was the full process that we went through with our recent self-published thriller.

Writing: While this step is of course the same no matter how you publish, here are two pieces of advice. First, it’s very important to thoroughly outline each of your characters, and the entire plot, before starting the first chapter. Second, write about something you know if at all possible. In our case, we’re both poker players. When there was a major Superuser scandal in poker, which we felt held strong themes of greed, violence, redemption, and power, we were inspired to reflect these in a fast-paced thriller.

Editing: A number of independently-published books have significantly more typos than their conventionally-published counterparts. In our case, it greatly helped to have two sets of eyes going over the book. If you’re writing alone, it may be a very worthwhile investment to hire an editor. Typos are a fast way to lose an audience and generate negative reviews.

Title/Description: The one nuance to titling for eBooks is that you want to have at least a couple of words that people will naturally search for. Give your audience every chance of finding your work. One simple way of accomplishing this is to put the genre in parentheses after the title.
And remember, the description is probably the most important 100 words you’ll write. It should leave the reader wanting to see more. Here’s what we came up with:

When a punk poker superstar loses millions in a mysterious game, he hires disgraced champion and ex-cop Grisham Stark to investigate. As Stark confronts cold-blooded players in Monte Carlo and Las Vegas, he realizes his one shot at redemption is to catch the most dangerous poker cheat of all time: the Superuser.

Behind the scenes, a politician is hijacking the scandal to wage a legislative battle in Washington. A beautiful female player is blackmailed into hiding a deadly secret that threatens to unravel the entire deception, and the ruthless Superuser is killing anyone who dares stand in his way.

Grisham Stark will ultimately face a terrifying question: Is the Superuser’s final goal far more than money?

Pricing: For us, one huge benefit to self-publishing is that you can charge just $2.99 for your book, and still receive almost as high a royalty as you would for a conventionally-published title. This $2.99 price point also still qualifies for the 70% royalty rate on the Kindle store. While many go higher (and some lower), we feel that most indie books should not be priced much above $4.99. There’s no paper or shelf space involved, after all!

Marketing: You put out the book. It’s an amazing text, easily rivaling War and Peace. Unfortunately, only your friends and family see it, and you end up selling 10 copies.
Marketing will definitely be one of your toughest challenges since a conventional publisher would normally be doing most of the work. For instance, while we feel we wrote a great thriller, at the moment it’s sitting at about 11,000 in the Kindle store – definitely not terrible, but still miles away from the bestsellers. Only time will tell what will happen, but for now we’re working hard to get that number to drop!
Pricing, title, and description are without doubt the first steps in getting your book read. After that, you should actively market your book so that your audience knows it’s out there. Here are the steps we’ve begun taking now that our book is available.

Facebook and Twitter: Katie put up a website for the book, Facebook fan page, and an active Twitter account. Social networking is a great free marketing tool.

Forum Posts: There are many book/eBook related forums and communities discussing great reads in your genre, such as Goodreads, Kindleboards, and Mobilereads. We both became much more active in these communities. While you should focus on providing helpful/interesting content, rather than aggressively or inappropriately self-promoting, you can increase your audience through networking, marketing your book in the appropriate forums, and passive self-promotion through having a signature and/or profile providing information about your book.
Blogs/Reviewers. Contact bloggers and reviewers who read in your genre, and politely ask if you can send a complimentary review copy. Some authors do larger giveaways, which is also a good option.

Advertising: As an optional last step, you can directly pay for advertising. Sites like Kindle Nation Daily, Goodreads, or even Facebook are good candidates for this.

She has a good life, but must bow to his wishes and wants and does not always feel as if she is in control of anything in her life. Then the dreams start… Dreams that are strange, but at times wonderful, and full of Sean. But who is Sean and what does he want from Jem? She is not sure but when the dreams become overwhelming, she must find out why. Jem is thrown into a relationship and situations that she is not sure she can handle and is introduced to a group of gentlemen with a terrifying, yet liberating secret.
Darkness & Light is the first novel in the Holloway Pack Stories and hopefully, there will be more to follow. Ms. Belfield’s take on the old werewolf story is fresh and interesting and her writing is well thought out and exciting. The characters are described in a manner that enables the reader see them and their surroundings during the changes which helps keep the action moving right along. With just enough romance to keep things exciting, Darkness & Light is well worth your reading time. I recommend it to any reader of paranormal romance.

This story is about a possessed boat, and the father and son duo who intend to sail her. Magnus Stannard is a rich and powerful business man by the time he buys a dilapidated boat called Dark Echo. He had seen it in a book as a child, and to the then poor boy, it represented greatness and wealth and freedom. Magnus wants to restore the enchanting boat and sail her on a trans-Atlantic route to America with his only son, Martin. This is to be his retirement.
But Martin gets an uneasy feeling about the boat, and about its original master, Harry Spaulding. Spaulding was a rich American with a dark past. To say the man, and the boat, had a dark and sometimes unlucky association, was putting it mildly. Magnus, however, didn’t share the concern. To him, there may have been unlucky owners, but a thing such as a boat was benign in nature, and certainly not cursed. Would their voyage be successful and without incident or would something much more sinister happen? The mind can play tricks on you, can’t it?
I love a good ghost story and I’m very much intrigued by the paranormal so this book was a no-brainer for me. It grabbed me from the very first page, and wouldn’t let me go right up until the very last page. I was oohing and aahing the entire time I was reading this work. Why write a fiction? It’s a question I ask myself whenever the writing goes badly. There’s no money in it. The world doesn’t need another book. My story is banal, the characters cardboard, the setting hackneyed, and what’s more I never learned to use the comma properly. So why do it?
The reasons must be as varied as individual writers. I do it because it helps me impose meaning and structure on experience. It helps me to live what I consider to be a full and productive life.
I knew I was a writer when, in junior high school, I wrote a humorous sketch for an English assignment. The teacher praised it and read it to the class, which laughed when it was supposed to. The piece even seemed to entertain the adults who read it. I realized that my words, my creations, could entertain and, as a result, people—including girls—would pay attention to me.
In high school, I wrote stories, plays, and poetry. In the army, I wrote reviews and stories. In college, I wrote a column for the school newspaper and an unpublished (and unpublishable) novel. I found a job as a writer on a trade magazine and spent 25 years as a reporter and writer, raised a family, but always continued to write poetry, plays, and another unpublished (and unpublishable) novel. I went back to college and earned an MA in creative writing. I became a ghostwriter and have now published 19 business books, but never stopped writing fiction and have now published Getting Oriented: A Novel About Japan.
I believe my earlier novels are unpublishable because, while I found the central character fascinating (he should be; he was me), no reader found his concerns, his wants, or his problems very engaging. While fiction has no unbreakable rules, a good general maxim is this: If readers don’t care what happens to your main character they’re not going to read your book. Ideally you want an interesting character in an interesting situation so that readers want to know what’s going to happen next. Occasionally a writer will put cardboard characters in an extraordinary situation and sell a million books (The Di Vinci Code) but that’s unusual.
The novels I enjoy reading tell me something about the world and the human condition. Ideally, they tell me something new. It’s why I prefer a police procedural mystery to, say, Agatha Christie. For that reason, the books I want to write, ideally tell readers something about the world and how it works.
Between the US Army, my undergraduate college experience, and regular practice ever since, I speak enough Japanese to have been hired to lead tours in Japan. It occurred to me that a tour would be an interesting situation to fictionalize…a diverse group of Americans…a foreign culture…an inexperienced guide…many opportunities for tension and conflict. And the thought became the seed that grew into the 240 pages of Getting Oriented.
While I did not consciously set out to do so, I find that I tend to put my imaginary characters in real places. I do not care for books that are set in an imaginary place (Ed McBain’s 87th Precinct mysteries) or are coy about identifying their real setting. Someone who wanted could replicate the tour in Getting Oriented, although, again, the tour in the book is neither the tour I led nor are the characters in the book portraits of people on my tours. The tour guide is not me. Like most fiction characters, these are composites of many people I’ve known. And although I think they live and breathe on the page (because they live and breathe in my imagination), readers will have to tell me whether they do or not.
I am sometimes asked about the relationship between my non-fiction ghostwriting and novel writing. With a business book, I have a wealth of material to work from. I spend as much time as I can with the author to immerse myself in that world. I went to one author’s day-long seminars then spent almost another day and a half interviewing him before I began his book. If the author has speeches, white papers, presentations, whatever, I want them all.
The author and I meet regularly throughout the writing process, although today that meeting may be via phone or e-mail. For one recent book, I did not meet the California-based author in person until after she published the book. I send the author every chapter as I write to ask for feedback, and some authors are far more hands-on than others, editing what I have written.
While I use fictional techniques to great effect in non-fiction (description, scene-setting, dialogue), I have no limits—beyond plausibility—in fiction. In a novel, I can tell you what a character is thinking and feeling. In non-fiction I can tell you only what I’ve been told or learned through research and experience.
Non-fiction is usually very clear about its natural audience: marketing executives, salesmen, general managers, advertising managers, whatever. Every article in the trade magazine for which I worked had to tell readers either how to make money or how to save money. A clear test.
Genre fiction is also clear: mystery, romance, thriller, paranormal, chick-lit, sci-fi, with subcategories under the major groups. With a book labeled, a bookstore knows where to shelve it. With a book that is not easily labeled—and I’m afraid Getting Oriented: A Novel About Japan is just such a book—publishers and bookstores have a much more difficult time.
Nevertheless, I was brought up to believe that if a book were good enough, it would eventually find an audience. Writing Getting Oriented was immense work, but it also gave me enormous pleasure. I can only hope that the readers who find it receive half as much enjoyment reading it as I had creating it.

Left on a small island, Sam awakes to screams of other children. They are all on the island with the absence of any adults. The children wake with different abilities and new powers, but with some changes to their normal abilities.
Then, a boy named Francis, who has all the answers, leads Sam to a gathering of the other children on the island were he learns he will be living in a new house and with a group of other kids. Why has this happened and who is to blame? Where did these powers come from and why can the children now communicate with their minds?
This sci-fi/fantasy novel found me wondering why and turning pages to find the truth. I found it hard to believe the adults would just leave the kids on this island and the plot was exciting and kept me on the edge wondering what was going to happen next. I read Fervor slowly because there was so much detail and information that I didn't want to miss. The character descriptions are in-depth and make you feel like you know these children personally. Chantal Boudreau has a way of putting together a great read than will keep you wondering until the end.
I recommend this book to any age reader who likes sci-fi or fantasy and I’m giving Fervor a 4 spider rating.

In this collection of 18 stories you'll be amused, shocked and satisfyingly haunted by tales of the dark, gory and sinister side of life.
Brandon Ford endeavors to push the envelope and go beyond some of the common accepted boundaries in a few of his tales and in doing so he tears down the wall that would normally hold a lot of other writers back.
For instance, one of my favorite stories in this compilation was Band Of Gold where a wayward husband involves himself with a hooker and in the process, loses something of value to his marriage, in a place where he realizes he probably shouldn't have gone to in the first place. It was a gross but amusing tale that had me chuckling because I could see this happening in real life.
Another one of my favorites was My Sacred Slumber. This story resonated with me as being very dark and disturbing and one that many may find hard to get through. The horror and courage must have swelled within the author when he wrote this one, but the mechanics of his writing are superb.
The only thing that held this book back from being a 5 spider rating was the "chopped off" endings of a few too many of Brandon Ford's stories. I thought some of the tales could have been developed further and gone farther than they did but this seems to be all part of the authors style and it certainly doesn't take away from my appetite to want to read more from Mr. Ford. I would equate my experience with some of his work as having a bowl of ice cream taken away from me when there's still a few more delicious spoonfuls left in the bottom of the bowl. It was very good but I wanted more from that bowl, and from that story.
My other "top picks" in Decayed Etchings were Trippity Doo-Da, Cat Call, Bookends, Camera Shy and Famous Last Words.
I’m giving Decayed Etchings a 4 spider rating.

Three countries are on the hunt for Angel-12, but only one will find it in time.
Fallen Angel is an action-packed, pulse-pounding, thrill ride that starts on page one and never lets go until the very end. From the opening lines of the book, I was completely emerged in the story and hurled along with the characters on their difficult journey.
This is not a tale for the weak at heat, but it is, sadly, a glimpse at what could and often does happen to our service men and women when captured behind enemy lines. The military jargon used in the book tossed me right back into my Navy days, but is used in a way that laymen will totally understand.
The characters are deeply layered and you quickly find yourself rooting for them and willing them through to the end. There are some emotionally disturbing issues that are dealt with in the book, but they are necessary to give the plot its realism. I am in love with the depth of the writing style and the authors’ ability to transition from one scene to another with such ease. Brilliantly crafted…I am officially a fan of these two writers. Suspense, world super-powers and even some humor tossed in along the way, Fallen Angel is one book I will definitely read again.
A 5 spider rating doesn’t do justice to this book. Pick this one up today…you will NOT be disappointed.

Darhun must avoid many temptations and learn to accept his calling to be the Guardian while battling many races, monsters, the ruthless and sinister Cullach and his own temptations.
This novel was a very good fantasy read. The characters were very likable and the storyline was very easy to understand and easy to follow along. It contained so much action I found I was never bored and the tale is fast-paced and intriguing. This book would be great for any young or old reader. JW Braccaro has taken on a big challenge writing this series and I can’t wait for the second installment. I’m giving this book a 5 spider rating and I will say this book will keep you entranced and turning pages!!

The last summer they spent there, Stevie became especially close with Jake, while Eleanor seemed to forget the boys altogether. The summer seemed to be going really well, especially for Stevie, when something happened.
Stevie, now an adult with a husband, can’t forget what happened that summer. She can’t forget the friend she had in Jake. And she can’t help, but think what might have been. In a bid to find herself and to get closure on what happened, she leaves in the middle of the night, bound for that beach house, and her past.
Barbara Forte Abate tells a story that you cannot forget. This book is a wonderful tale of nostalgia. Expertly written, the story comes alive and I really enjoyed this book. This makes a great read for those summer days when you need a great book and a cold drink on a warm beach. I definitely recommend this one! 4 spiders for The Secret of Lies.

Mr. Long’s extensive research and knowledge help to bring this story to life and make it easy to visualize everything about this era in American history. The book is written in two parts which makes it easier to understand and helps to set the timeline of the story. Many characters enter the tale as it progresses and make the telling more realistic. Mr. Long’s writing is descriptive and exciting, keeping the action going till the end.
I am giving No Good Like It Is a 4 spider rating and recommending it to anyone who loves reading about the Civil War or the early West. An interesting and thought-provoking read.

And just when you are sure you would know what to do in responding to a crime--a gut wrenching twist in circumstances will cause you to rethink your approach. At the end of Fatal Destiny you might gain a new respect and understanding of all the characters that make up the world of crime--the good and the bad.
Fatal Destiny is just one story in the Grace deHaviland series, but it certainly won't be the last of David DeLee's books that I will read.

What started as a world-title boxing scandal quickly turns into a bank safety box robbery and murder. Who was the mysterious man and what was he yelling to Levi? Is Levi being blackmailed and if so, by whom and for what reason? The answers don't come easy as the questions keep piling up and Amber finds herself in a deadly situation.
This is the second book in the Amber Fox series. Sibel Hodge has a way of writing that really makes the characters come to life as Amber struggles to get to the bottom of the case and her love life. What really made this story different was the fact that it is written as Amber is telling the story personally to you. She is sarcastic, quirky, funny and sexy all wrapped into one bundle of energy. This was an easy read and kept me interested throughout.
I give Be Careful What You Wish For, 5 spiders and recommend to fans who enjoy a fast paced, sometimes funny, crime filled story. I look forward to reading The Fashion Police, the first Amber Fox book and hope Ms. Hodge keeps this series coming because she has a new fan!

This is a well-written, well thought-out thriller with a kick-butt ending and it will definitely keep you on the edge. Melissa Foster is a writer to watch and Chasing Amanda is THE book for thriller lovers.

The story is well crafted and easy to follow with loads of emotion, suspense, love and hate…all the good stuff that keeps us on our toes and wanting more. I have read other books from Ms. Eliot, but I must say, A Perfect Gem has been my favorite so far. It compels the reader to cheer for the heroin, while hating the bad guys in the sincerest manner of a romantic mystery. Three cheers for Winslow Eliot and A Perfect Gem.
This novel easily merits a 5 spider rating and a hardy recommendation to anyone who loves their romance with a large helping of mystery. Put this one at the top of your list!

Over the next few months, John Tsiboukas, turns into his stage persona of Johnny Tango. The band is rocking with their new sound and hot new guitarist, Case. All is going well until Johnny begins referring to himself in third person, seems to be talking to himself more often and starts mixing lyrics with that of screaming nonsense; hypnotizing the audience. Certain fans, start to appear, along with stranger and stranger events taking place near Ragman. The members of Ragman realize something is terribly wrong, when odd accidents start taking place all around them. John wishes he'd never made a deal at the crossroads that night.
Joseph Garraty pulls us into this psychological thriller Voice, making this page turner difficult to put down. I am giving Voice a 4-spider rating.

Ella is a well-known writer who lives in a house that she is bound to by a real life murder mystery. Her husband was brutally killed in their kitchen and the town folk have turned their suspicions on her. She finally becomes determined to find the real killer, but the house is haunted with entities adrift that seem to be working against her. Her sanity is threatened as she looks for clues along with Gabriel, a local detective friend, who will solve the mystery and hopefully give her closure and the ability to move on in her life.
As I started reading Liz Shulte's novel, I was impressed with her ability to infuse a strong sense of emotion and character into her main protagonist. Ella came alive for me as a person and I began to care for her—something that is essential to building a good story. After the initial introduction to Ella, I found myself caring so much that it was a little difficult getting through the first few chapters. The story and her life seemed to drag and there wasn't a lot of zing to the story. Questions that were inserted in my mind earlier in the story, lingered a bit too long for my taste and the tale lost some of the pop that I was looking for. However, the story soon recovered nicely and all of the story's neighborhood characters, including the ghosts, began to compete for a really good supernatural whodunit.
Liz Shulte has crafted a worthwhile read and I recommend that you find a place for Dark Corners on your bookshelf. I enjoyed it and am giving it a 3 spider rating. I look forward to more from this author in the future.

The two join to protect the child and solve the mystery behind the young girl’s existence and bitter past. What they uncover will have them asking if there are really random occurrences or if everything happens for a reason.
Michael Davis' book is well written and made me feel as if I was a part of the action. I originally didn't think I would care for this book, but soon found it to be interesting and full of heart. Shadow of Guilt was loaded with mystery, romance and love and really will make you question random occurrences. I recommend this book to anyone and it’s great for all ages and readers. I couldn't put this book down and can’t wait to read more from Michael Davis. I’m giving this book 5 spider rating. If you want a good mystery, Shadow of Guilt is for you!!!

After only being on the beat for three weeks, a chance meeting at a crime scene and a shortage of other police officers, D.I. Parish must bring Constable Richards onto his one-man team. As the story progresses, Parish realizes what a important asset Richards is as a partner and a person. While the body count keeps rising, Parish and Richards find themselves at a loss as to who is doing the killings and why this person is leaving a token in the mouth of the deceased. What ties them together? Why is the killer using an unusual weapon and what is the significance of that weapon? To complicate everything, Parish, a bachelor who has left little time for real romance in the past, finds what he hopes is his true love, while Richards is also working towards her own happy ending?
Little by little the reader is able to put the pieces together with a shocking ending. Twists and turns abound throughout the story, in the case and also in the main characters' personal lives.
Also included in this Kindle edition is a teaser of Tim Ellis' next book in this series entitled Wages of Sin which is now available for download. It looks to be just as good as A Life for a Life. I am giving A Life for a Life a 4 spider rating and recommending it to anyone looking for a fast-paced crime thriller with an ending to shock.

Just when you think Angie is safe, something else happens. The plot thickens, twists and turns get exciting and then, the book gets REALLY good!
I absolutely LOVED this book. Keefe reminds me of Dan Brown, of whom, I am a big fan. Yet it is very different at the same time. Digger’s Bones is a mystery thriller for the ages. I would love to see it on the big screen and I want to read more books with ‘Angie Cooper'.

Warm Bodies is touted as a story about zombie love but is not about zombies…well, not really. Even though the book tells the story of a zombie boy, who finds and protects a human girl from other zombies in an apocalyptic world dying from a plague, it is not, at all, a zombie story. This book is about the human condition, or the un-condition if you will. It’s about hope and fear, life and death and the consequences we could all face if changes are not made.
It is about ‘R’, a zombie boy who starts out as any other zombie, killing humans and eating their brains. But it progresses into a sweet story of a ‘once-human’ who is transforming into a ‘once-again-human’. R saves a girl named Julie from a hoard of hungry zombies and takes her to his home, a 747 jumbo jet sitting on a tarmac in some random airport. He does not know why, but suddenly, he has this over-whelming urge to protect her.
These two strange friends begin to see things and do things they don’t at first understand, but as time goes on, their actions begin to make a difference. They become a new hope that spreads out around them and changes everything.
Not in a very long time, have I read a book that has so touched me like Warm Bodies. Isaac Marion has an ability to write and express his story in a way that very few authors have done before and I believe this young writer will be a huge voice in the future of story-telling. His wonderful descriptions of characters and situations are like nothing I’ve read lately. His ability to understand and translate the human condition is uncanny and enlightening. What can I say…this guy can write.
If you read no other book this year, you must pick up Warm Bodies. It will fool you in the beginning, sadden you in the middle and move you at the end. It will knock your socks off and give you Hope!

Great characters and even better murder methods tell a tale that will keep the reader guessing to the end. The story is fast-paced and progresses along quickly, keeping you on the edge till the gruesome end. Ms Armstrong has done it again with this second in her series and we can't wait to read the next installment.

Her main characters are thoroughly enjoyable, as they deal with human emotions and shortcomings. The secondary characters are varied and believable, with their own ticks and quirks, which add to the fantasy feel of the story.
The settings, the characters and the unusual situations in The Native Star, make it a world of magic and a book not to be missed. I'm giving The Native Star a 4 spidar rating and suggesting it to anyone who loves a great fantasy adventure story.

I found this book very interesting with the rich history of those early times portrayed so well by Ms Neale. The writing is fresh and clear and Nora's character is spunky and straight-forward. The characters of Nora's parents are well written and we clearly see the love they have for their daughter. This is a wonderful read and I'm giving this book a 4 spider rating. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historically based fiction with added adventure and romance. Great job by Cynthia Neale.

The story is imaginative and new and the writing is clean and neat as a pin.

This imaginative re-telling of the story is fraught with fact and science fiction and will leave you wondering. The characters are true-to-life and wonderfully written and the story is spot-on. If you are a Titanic enthusiast, you must pick up a copy of Titanic 2012 for yourself.

All my questions were answered and much more in this easy read that left me wanting more. I really hope Ms Underwood writes another book as a follow-up to this one because I will certainly want to buy it.
I am giving Dark Forgiveness a 5 spider-rating and would recommend it to anyone. Amelia Underwood has written a new life into the supernatural/paranormal genre.

As Michael gets deeper and deeper into his re-education, learning to be a productive member of society, he discovers things are not what they seem and no one can be trusted. Michael has one chance left to prove himself worthy to live amongst others...one chance to plead his case or be exterminated!

From the very first line of The End of Marking Time, I was absolutely absorbed in the story. I found myself rooting for Michael as he made his way through this new world. C.J. West has written a book so original, fast-paced and believable, I found myself forgetting it was a work of fiction. The dialogue between characters is excellent and the descriptions of events and places are incredible. Readers will not want to put this one down until they know the verdict. Will Michael be spared? Is he worth another chance? Or will all he has worked for be for naught as he pleads his case?

I am giving The End of Marking Time a 4 spider rating. I would recommend this book to any fans of the thriller/suspense genre and I, myself, will be picking up more books from C.J. West. The End of Marking Time is one wild ride you won't want to miss!!

This is book is an awesome love story. I started reading and couldn't stop...my favorite kind of romance. It has all the makings of a good love story; a friendship/crush/love that is re-kindled after several years and then goes thru some drama to finally end in a 'forever' scenario. There are some twist and turns that will keep you turning pages and the characters seem real and not 'too' perfect.

I'm giving this book a 5 spider rating and recommending it to anyone who is interested in a good love story. Don't miss this wonderful read!!

Kenny sets out to tell Callie that he never forgot the kindness she showed him, but finds that she has mysteriously gone missing. There is suspicion around her disappearance, but her husband has been cleared of any involvement. No one knows for certain whether she was murdered or if she decided to leave on her own. Kenny feels he needs to find out what happened to her before he dies so that he can repay her for her kindness so many years ago.

This story by Neil Cross makes the reader ask, what would you do if you knew your time was limited? The story is interesting and the characters are honest and engaging. When you think it’s over, there’s still more to come. This novel was a quick read and I enjoyed it very much. It kept my attention and had me guessing what would happen next. I am giving Captured 3 spiders and recommending it to anyone who loves a good mystery.

This story brings the reader into a world of vampires and werewolves and the power they hold, while telling a sweet story of the love that Darien has for Rachel. Told from a different angle, this book is not your average vampire tale.

I really enjoyed the story and found myself reading along and wondering how this book would end. The love between Darien and Rachel was sweet, heartbreaking and even made me mad at times too. Lifeless is a short book that is easy and fun to read. The story is well written and the ending leads you to believe more books will follow, which excites me greatly. The characters are strong and believable and the story holds your interest all the way to the end.

I am giving Lifeless a 5-spider rating and I must say this book is for any age reader who is looking for something different but fun to read. Even though its a vampire/werewolf book I believe that most everyone will love it. Kudos to Paul Lewis for this excellent story.

Will Anderson is the alcoholic son of the owner of Detroit Electric, maker of electric cars. One night, while Will is in a drunken state, his friend John Cooper calls and asks for his help. When Will arrives at the place they have agreed to meet, John has been gruesomely murdered and Will’s fingerprints are all over the murder, literally.
As Will tries to prove his innocence and find the real killer, he learns much about himself and about his true friends. With every day that passes, Will gets closer to the actual killer, but closer to life in prison as more and more evidence points directly to him.
This book grabbed my attention from the very first page and kept it throughout the entire read. The twists and turns in this one had me gasping aloud. I found it difficult, at best, to put this book down and I had many mental debates over who could be the real killer. This book kept me guessing the entire way through and was very well written.

This fictional story included much of the true history of the automobile industry and so many non-fictional characters, that it really made the story jump out and grab me. I absolutely cannot wait to read another book by Mr. Johnson! I have already recommended this book to several friends and family and will continue to do so.
This book gets 5 spiders from me with the understanding that if I could award more, I definitely would. Fantastic read!

The 13 Treasures is a fantastic mystery that keeps you guessing until the very end, with characters that stand out and an enticing setting.

Her descriptions of the people and places are unique and creative and her experiences are enriching and authentically told. After long and careful consideration, the WebbWeaver duo, CK Webb & DJ Weaver, have made some critical decisions regarding their future in the literary world. We have decided to part ways with our literary agent and agency and begin a new journey. This has been an amicable split and though we leave the business relationship, we remain good friends with Cari Foulk and all the authors from Tribe. We will continue to do everything in our power to support, not only Cari & Tribe Literary, but each author represented by them. My fondest wish is that our friends, family and fans will also support the incredibly talented writers who are represented by Tribe Literary Agency. They are certain to make waves in the literary world.

Now, for the really good stuff! Our first novel, CRUELTY TO INNOCENTS: THE 911 ABDUCTIONS (Yes, that’s the full title), is off to professional editing and will soon be available for purchase as an e-book on several sites, including Amazon & Amazon UK. We will be working on blurbs, cover art and book synopsis while we wait. We are working extremely hard, as are many other wonderful people, to ensure that our fans receive the very best thriller we can give them.
Before the book goes up for sale, we will be posting, at least, the prologue and first couple of chapters to allow readers to ‘wet their whistle’ so to speak and get a feel for what Cruelty To Innocents is all about. This is the first book in the three book 911 Abduction series.
We intend to market book one like mad women. We have not lost sight of our ultimate goal, which is to see the ‘Innocents’ series picked up by a traditional publishing house. In the meantime, we hope that sales from book one will make a good case for us in that regard. We will eventually seek agency representation for book two, COLLECTING INNOCENTS, but not until we feel it sparkles like a rare diamond!
We will need our friends, family and fans more than ever and are hopeful that you will support our work. It will take each and every one of you to get the word out and hopefully we will see the ‘Innocents’ series do amazing things…together! Book Review of 'Dying Light' by D. Scott Meek

In this story of an apocalyptic world set in 2412, a reversal of roles between humans and vampires has taken place. The Blood Virus has caused a radical change in the vampire/human relationship and now, vampires are hiding in plain site, trying to live secretly among humans. But the humans are hunting them down with a shoot-first-no-questions-asked agenda to eradicate them all.

The ruling Vampire Lord intends to make sure that vampires clean up their own messes and Charlotte is the most skilled hunter of them all. Bound by the word of the Vampire Lord, Charlotte is most adept at shadowing and killing vampires who have gone too far. One of those vampires is her beloved, Michael and Charlotte knows that one day she will be sent to kill him.

D. Scott Meek has envisioned an incredible, post-apocalyptic world filled with futuristic technology, holograms, global warming and utter chaos, and he has done it in a unique way. His characters are believable and compelling, while his attention to detail makes the story unfold with extreme realism.

Dying Light is the first in a new sub-genre of science fiction called 'post-dystopia' and it brings the reader into a new world where vampires are the hunted and humans are the ruling entities.

This story is entertaining and thought provoking in it's realism and detail and D. Scott Meek has penned a thoroughly enticing read.

I am giving Dying Light a 4 spider rating and recommending it to all of you who appreciate a great sci-fi winner.
